MATH 1150 – Precalculus

5 credits | Prerequisite: Student must meet one of the following criteria to register for this course: ACT Math score of 24 or higher; SAT Math score of 570 or higher; Accuplacer AAF score of 263 or higher; Four High School Math courses with grades of A, A, B, B or higher; or A in Math 1118.

The Math Placement B Test is a computerized test that lasts 75 minutes comprised of 40 questions.

Credits: 3. Description: Fall, Spring, Summer. Description of data, binomial and normal distributions, estimation and testing hypotheses for means and proportions. Prerequisites: Two years high school algebra, one year of geometry and a satisfactory placement exam score.

You may take up to 16 credit hours S/U. You may not take any classes required for your major or minor S/U. The 16 hours does not include those courses which are only offered S/U such as WRIT 1110. To receive an S in a course you must attain a C or better to constitute a passing grade.

A proctor is required in order for the resulting score to be used for placement. To take the exam a sixth time, students need to get permission from the math department. Once permission is obtained, the test must be taken at the OSU Testing Center.

Algebraic, rational, and radical expressions; functions and graphs; quadratic equations; absolute value; inequalities; and applications. Credit for this course will not count toward graduation in any degree program.

Prereq: A grade of C- or above in 1148 and 1149, or in 1144, 1150, or 150, or Math Placement Level L. Not open to students with credit for 1152 or 152.
