Does splashing still work in OSRs? ›

After an update, splashing is still possible, but after twenty minutes the player will stop auto-retaliating, making it impossible to splash for hours as in the past. Players splashing on other players in the single-combat area of Clan Wars.

Your character will stop auto-retaliating after 20 minutes or so which is why you'll need to interact with the game to avoid getting logged out.

For splashing, the best weapon to use is any Elemental Staff. Unfortunately, all elemental staves in the game provide a 10 Magic Bonus. This means you'll need to counteract the gear with another equipment that can drastically reduce your Magic Bonus.

The Cursed goblin staff is useful for players who want to train their Magic skill through splashing. A staff for autocast and a magic bonus of at most -64 is required for splashing. Normally a player can use green d'hide vambraces to achieve -64 magic bonus while wielding an elemental staff.

This was against the rules and many players have been permanently banned for it, though hard to catch due to the player not saying anything during the drop trade transfer. However, drop trading is also risky because there is a chance that the items could be intercepted by another player.
